Why San Roque Is the Sweet Spot for Gibraltar & Sotogrande
San Roque sits centrally between Gibraltar, Sotogrande and the wider Campo de Gibraltar area, which makes it a realistic, low-friction training base rather than a special trip. For Gibraltar residents, it's a short drive across the border outside peak crossing times. For Sotogrande, it's a straightforward run down the coast road. Members frequently combine a training session with other errands on either side of the border rather than treating the gym as a separate journey.
What International and Expat Students Should Expect
Submission Labs already trains a genuinely international mix of members — British, Gibraltarian, and other European and international residents alongside local Spanish members. Classes are taught in English (with Spanish available via our team and the language switcher on this site), and the gym culture is built around welcoming people regardless of background or prior experience. Training Around Cross-Border Commutes and Work Schedules
A lot of our Gibraltar-based members work schedules that don't fit a rigid 6pm class slot — shift work, cross-border commute times, or simply unpredictable finish times. Our weekly class schedule spans morning and evening sessions across BJJ Gi, No-Gi, MMA and open mat, which gives commuting members more than one realistic window to train consistently each week rather than depending on a single class time.
